Welcome and Introduction

How to scale gamified hands on labs learning to enable students apply conceptual knowledge: Cloud Hero is a hands-on training event using the game functionality on Qwiklabs to help technical practitioners gain skills through interactive learning in a fun and competitive environment. Cloud Hero brings developers together to compete against one another in gamified labs by using their Google Cloud skills.

The objective was to deliver hands-on training, drive product adoption, increase number of overall Learners and learners in targeted accounts, and immerse our target audience into an engaging experience.

1415     Ana Howes, Blue Prism

Until early 2019 there was no one-stop-shop for free access to Blue Prism-specific training materials, general RPA knowledge, and industry-accepted proctored certification exams. There was also no community or learning product edition available that anyone that is interested in learning and certifying on Blue Prism can download and learn how to use the product.

The traditional download and installation of the Blue Prism product is designed for IT and is not appropriate for end users, particularly novices, which affects the end user experience. We had to change all that.

1515      Faez Ahmed, ServiceNow

We wanted to address three problems:

  • Women are under-represented in the tech industry
  • Many women find it difficult and lack the confidence to re-enter the workforce after a period of time away
  • Our service partners have skills shortages.

The opportunity was to try to solve all three problems in a single training program, increase employee engagement through mentoring, and partner with a leading university to create a sustainable program.

1615      Craig Morrison, OSIsoft

As a company we had new executive leadership come in over 2019 and the goals were to focus profitability through improved cost management and opportunities for additional revenue, especially into 2020 with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. For learning, this meant tightening our belts. Previously being a cost centre under marketing to now reporting under customer success operations we needed to engage a much larger number of users to strengthen our core markets for continued success.

Our goals for 2019 and 2020 have been to increase the number of trained users in a scalable way, to reduce costs, drive efficiencies and set a framework to generate further revenue in the longer term.
